Although being in a very touristy region and close to all the traditional restaurants and houses of Fado, the traditional local business of the Pombaline downtown, the trams and the Tuck-Tuck that help to colour the streets and that provide it a special frenzy, this apartment is located in a very calm and quiet street.
It is placed in a building of Pombaline architecture and without elevator, on a second floor, very easy to access via a wide staircase, and with the walls coated with tiled panelling of traditional Portuguese tiles.
In the 1755 earthquake in Lisbon, this was the area that suffered the most, with Sebastião José Carvalho e Melo, the Marquis of Pombal, being the person responsible for the reconstruction of the city. He commissioned a group of Portuguese and foreign engineers to draw the new profile of the city, and instead of reconstructing it using the antique streets as a reference, they became wider and paved and with the beautiful Portuguese sidewalk.
